Rae Sremmurd released one of the hottest albums last year, SremmLife with hits such as No Flex Zone, No Type, Up Like Trump and Throw Sum More. The album itself was certified platinum for selling one million copies; no small feat especially in this day and age where very few albums reach that status. The album was quite the banger full of with raw energy, catchy hooks and no filler content. The bar was indeed set very high for the young rappers. More than a year later they have released a follow up project titled SremmLife 2.
Following the release of their album the duo stated that they have both been working on their own individual material and we should expect them to release solo projects some time in the future. In an interview with Complex, Swae Lee stated that he already has eight songs which are ”candidates for [his] project” which will be called Swaecation – a supposedly “retarded project” as per the younger of the two brothers.
Slim Jxmmi stated that he’s personally not very happy with the fact that the brothers are being pressured to split up and go solo. He stated that although he has music he does not plan on releasing it any time soon because he doesn’t “want to satisfy the world like that.” He stated that the two brothers have their own music because they are both proficient as rappers. He also mentioned that the release of the brothers’ projects is not finalized, saying “we might put them on the same disc—who knows? We definitely got different projects that we’re working on and tweaking.”
The brothers also revealed to HNHH that they have no plans on releasing another joint project under the SremmLife title. So I suppose the next album might have something completely different from their debut and sophomore albums.
The group will go on a North American tour later this year with newcomer Lil Yatchy. The tour dates are below.
